The Consulting Detective series consists of four books which seek to answer the question: How did Sherlock Holmes
become the man Dr. Watson meets in 1881?
The first book in the series The Crack in the Lens, seventeen-year-old Sherlock Holmes' life is changed forever
due to a tragic disappearance.
The next three books in the series are the parts of The Consulting Detective Trilogy The Consulting Detective Trilogy.
The Consulting Detective Trilogy follows Sherlock Holmes from the end of The Crack in the Lens in 1871
to his meeting with Dr. John H. Watson. He meets many people who influence the early development of his career and has many
adventures along the way.
The Consulting Detective Trilogy Part I: University covers his university education at
Cambridge University and his initial decision to become a detective which meets opposition from his college and his father.
He rescuses several fellow-students and helps identify a young girl at an asylum.
The Consulting Detective Trilogy Part II: On Stage covers Sherlock's brief acting career when he
learned his many talents for disguise. He takes time off from the stage to rescue his kidnapped nephews.
The Consulting Detective Trilogy Part III: Montague Street follows Sherlock's early
cases as a detective when he lived at Montague Street, including many of the "untold tales."
